Library Sessions - Maintained
Intent
We hope for our children to have a love of books and become lifelong learners.
Implementation
We are currently changing books with the children during our Thursday story sessions. Sally catches the children who are not here on a Thursday to enable all children to have a chance to choose a library book.
Impact
The children love library day, and are very excited to change their library books. The children talk about the books they have read and what they have enjoyed.
Here's what our children have to say:
"I can read it at bedtime"
"I like it when I can take a book home and read"
"I like to take it home to show my Daddy"
At Pinxton Nursery School we have a strong interest in developing reading with our children, and a love for books. We believe that this encourages children with a lifelong passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. To encourage children in this we have developed our Library Sessions.
"It is crucial for children to develop a life-long love of reading."
(Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage - 2021)
"Sharing a book with a child is fun! It's a time for closeness, laughing and talking together – and it can also give children a flying start in life and help them become lifelong readers."
